FAQ
- Laser Welding: Fast speed, low heat input, minimal distortion, high precision, the most user-friendly, and strong quality; however, it has gap requirements and cannot weld overly wide seams.
- TIG Welding: Capable of welding nearly all metals, providing high-quality welds that heavily depend on the welder's skill, typically requiring decades of experience, and is extremely slow.
- MIG Welding: Excellent for thick plates, more efficient than TIG, and easier to operate, making it a balanced choice.
The xTool MetalFab can achieve high-quality welding for most metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, brass, galvanized sheet, titanium alloy, bronze, nickel alloys, and more. It can weld metals as thin as 0,2 mm, with the maximum thickness for single-sided penetration as follows:
- 1200W: 5 mm for stainless steel, carbon steel, and galvanized sheet; 4mm for brass and aluminum.
- 800W: 4 mm for stainless steel, carbon steel, and galvanized sheet; 3mm for brass and aluminum.
The maximum welding thickness is based on data from xTool laboratories.
Yes, it's as strong as TIG/MIG.
Laser welding offers high energy density. With correct parameters, its strength and penetration can match or exceed TIG/MIG. The xTool laser welder achieves up to 5mm penetration and is SGS certified, meeting ISO15614-1 standards for tensile and metallographic testing, ensuring strong reliability.
For most metals, we recommend using nitrogen/argon with a purity of 99,99% or higher.
For titanium alloy welding, argon with a purity of 99,99% or higher is recommended. A flow rate of 15-20 LPM (or 0,1-0,2 MPa pressure) is advised.
Please do not use mixed gases, as this may affect welding quality.
Additionally, for handheld laser cutting and cleaning, we recommend using compressed air or high-purity nitrogen/argon (which is more expensive).
We have implemented a series of designs to ensure your safety.
This includes safety circuit design, emergency stop buttons, dual-button grip sensors, and every welding machine comes with a pair of OD6+ protective glasses and a mask.
We also provide safety training videos before use, offering you comprehensive protection.
